BIBLE WRITING CHALLENGE

OVERVIEW OF THE CHALLENGE

  1. The name of the challenge will be “Earn While You Learn" Bible Writing Challenge.
  2. There is no cost to participate in this challenge.
  3. The challenge is sponsored by Scriptoriums.com, a ministry of Lighthouse Christian Ministries (www.LighthouseChristianMinistries.org), a 501(c)3 organization. Any questions that arise will be decided by the staff of Scriptoriums.com.
  4. The goal of the challenge is to encourage Scripture writing and meditation.
  5. The basis for this challenge is Deuteronomy 17:18. The kings of Israel were instructed to write out a copy of God's law.
Deuteronomy 17:18 - “And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests. And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel.
  6. Registration for the challenge will begin on May 2, 2025.
  7. The challenge will also begin on May 2, 2025, and will continue as long as funds are available. The initial registration will be limited to 30 entrants, but will likely be expanded.
  8. The challenge consists of writing out entire books of the Bible in approved translations.
  9. Rewards will be earned for each 1,000 words written, based on the version you decide to write out.
  10. You must register your book before you start writing it out to receive the reward. During registration you will be required to list your name, address, contact phone number, email, translation to be used, and expected completion date. Although you can extend the completion date, based on availability of funds, if you do not plan to complete the book, let us know so funds can be available to other participants.
  11. Once registered, you will see a confirmation screen showing that you are registered. You may begin writing out your book once you see this confirmation. If you receive an error message, please contact us.

A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT

For a person to write out the entire New Testament, along with Psalms and Proverbs, would take approximately 228 hours on average. A calendar year has 260 weekdays. If a person were to spend about 53 minutes per day every weekday writing out the Bible, they would finish in one year.

FINAL COMMENTS

Our family’s goal is to glorify God in all we do. When we started the Scriptoriums.com website in 2015, our desire was to see the Word of God memorized by many people. We are thankful for the many Scriptorium events we have helped organize across the country to reach that goal. We are still continuing this effort going forward. Scriptorium events were started by Scripture Memory Fellowship in 2006. Contrary to false rumors some have started to destroy this ministry, we have not changed our name or our purpose. Our desire is to keep this work going forward.

This writing challenge is a new idea, and we hope it is a blessing to many to encourage the writing out and meditation on God’s Word. Please be understanding as issues may arise during the challenge. We seek to be just in our decisions according to the Word of God. If you have a question or see an issue with these rules, please let us know. We welcome your feedback.
